Welcome to Sarah Hobday Counselling

Online Counselling, Outdoor Therapy & Supervision

Create some space to breathe

Life can be challenging, and there may be times when these challenges feel overwhelming. Sleep may be disrupted, concentration affected, relationships impacted, and happiness feels unreachable.

Each person is unique and my aim is to create a space, whether that’s in person, online or outside, that enables you to express yourself, evaluate your situation, and explore your options whilst feeling accepted, valued, encouraged and supported.

Each session is tailored to your needs and as an experienced integrative counsellor I’ll draw upon therapeutic approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Person-Centred, Gestalt and Psychodynamic therapy, Creative interventions and Mindfulness techniques. These elements will be combined to provide a bespoke therapeutic experience which you find helpful, engaging, and supportive.

For your peace of mind I have an enhanced DBS, am a member of both the ACC and BACP professional bodies, and am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) which means I am committed to providing both a professional service and to keeping your information confidential and secure.

My location

My private practice is based near King’s Lynn and I see clients from Norfolk as well as the surrounding counties of Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.

In addition to telephone counselling and online sessions, I also offer outdoor therapy sessions in a variety of settings near the market towns of King's Lynn, Downham Market, Swaffham & Dereham. All outdoor therapy locations will have car parking and toilet facilities as well as a cafe on site or place to purchase refreshments nearby.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be referred for counselling by my GP?

No. I take referrals from GPs, charities and organisations, but most of my clients are self-referrals.

How do I make an appointment?

You can text, email, or message me via Messenger on my Facebook page. Visit the Get in Touch section for details. I will respond as soon as possible to arrange a convenient time for us to meet.

How much do sessions cost?

The initial consultation is £35 and provides an opportunity for us to meet and complete the necessary paperwork, so please bring your GP contact details and allow an hour. Thereafter, each 60 minute session is £50.

How can I pay for a session?

Payment can be made by card (including contactless payments) or bank transfer, and generally occurs at the end of the session. I will issue a receipt for your records. Please let me know if your sessions are being funded by a third party so that I can raise an invoice.

How often do sessions need to be?

Sessions can be booked weekly or fortnightly. If you'd prefer to meet on a particular day or at a certain time, please let me know and I will try to accommodate this.

What time is your earliest appointment?

I can offer sessions from 7am. My last session of the day is 4pm.

What if I can’t make a session?

Please provide 48 hours notice if you wish to cancel or rearrange a session. Normally, cancellation on the day of your session will incur a charge of £25.

What about childcare arrangements?

Generally, it's inappropriate for children to be present during a therapy session for ethical and confidential reasons. Therefore, if you have children or care for the children of others, please make adequate childcare arrangements to enable you to attend your session.

Do you do couples counselling or work with under 18s?

I work with adult individuals aged 18 and over. If you are looking for couples counselling or therapy for a child/young person under 18, please take a look at the Counselling Directory online to find a counsellor near you.

What types of counselling sessions are available?

I offer telephone counselling, online sessions for clients via Zoom, and therapy sessions outdoors. Contact me to find out more about how online or outdoor therapy works.
